Ways must be found to promote world trade. The same is true of areas and communities. No per son, community or nation can live alone and prosper. In this county many people have things they no longer need which if sold would put money in their pocket, for other things they do need, give the customer something they want and promote general prosperity. Ad vertising in the Bulletin brings buyers and sellers together for their mutual benefit. Secretary of the Treasury Humphrey says in come tax to be cut ... . Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oscar Hearon of Spartanburg and Saluda, cele brated their 50th wedding anniver sary Monday at their home, Green fields, near Spartanburg. The re ception was given in their honor by their children, Fanning, Eliza beth, Charles and Belle. The daughters are now Mrs. Lindsav Little and Mrs. Tucker McCravy. Mrs. Hearon is the former Miss Belle McLaughlin of Eufaula, Ala., a member of a distinguished Southern fa mil v that was pro minent in the development of the business, civic and cultural in terests of that section. Mr. Hearon, a native of Bristol. Va. (May 31, _Continued on Back Page, | Congressman Rotary Speaker In Tryon This Week Congressman Woodrow Wilson Jones of Rutherfordton, will be the guest speaker at the Tryon Rotary Club Friday at 1 p. m. at Oak Hall hotel. G. I. Henderson will be in charge of the program. Congressman Jones is a veteran ! of World War II where he served I as a lieutenant, junior grade, in the Navy. He has served as prose cuting attorney for Rutherford county; two terms in the state legislature and is now on his second term in the House of Repre sentatives in addition to the part term of Major A. L. Bulwinkle. He is a member of the judiciary committee. His subject at Rotary Friday will be “What Took Place at the First Session of the 83rd Con | gress”. Tryon Women Take Part j In Asheville Golf Meet The Western Carolina Women’s Golf Assn, tournament is being held in Asheville today at the Biltmore Country Club. More than 140 women are scheduled to parti cipate beginning at 10 a. m. Among those going from Tryon are Mrs. I George W. Hanscomb, Mrs. George i Vance, Mrs. Charles Stratford, ! Mrs. Seth M. Vining, Mrs. K. A. f Bowen, Mrs. Peter Mahler, Mrs. Fred Placak, Mrs. L. W. Ander son. Mrs. George Dusenbury, Mrs. S. J. Craig, Mrs. Paul Culberson, Mrs. Joe Kerbv, Mrs. Gaden Cor pening. Mrs. Charles Willard and Miss Elena Garcia. Several prizes will be awarded for various contests. Players will j represent Greenville and Spartan ■ hurg, S. C..
